Sustainability Street

If you like what our local community has been attempting to achieve then you will like this. Click on image to visit the website of Sustainability Street.

This is all about communities in Australia that are achieving:

  • up to 30% reduction in waste, water and energy consumption. Often much more!
  • pride about working with friends and neighbours on locally devised and energised sustainability projects.
  • deep satisfaction at having made new connections and friendships with others in the community.

I would be interested in feedback from anyone. Should we try to link up with this movement?

Garden crawl – Saturday, 17th

This rare opportunity to poke our noses into other people’s back yards and learn starts on Saturday at 3pm at Jonah and Michelle’s place (46).

We’ll look at how Jonah raises seedlings and at their container plants, then roam Dave and Jo’s garden at 152, as well as visiting the site they’ve offered for a community garden. We’ll finish up at Chris and Carol’s (195) to see what can be done in a quite small space. We hope to finish by 5.30.

Everyone is welcome to stay on optional BBQ – BBQ provided, BYO everything else!

If you have seedlings, seeds or produce to swap/sell/give away let Trish know in advance: if there’s enough interest we’ll have a trade table at some point.
