About us

Waterworks Valley is a geographically discreet area of Hobart, surrounded by bushland and featured by the Waterworks Reserve at its Western end.

The valley has an array of natural assets and attributes, but also a variety of environmental problems such as weed infestation on public and private land, as well as water quality issues - Sandy Bay rivulet flows down the middle of the valley.

The valley’s community, comprising approximately 230 homes, is unusually close knit, having a strong sense of identity, community and place. The amenities of the area are highly valued.

In early 2006 residents living in the valley decided to form the Waterworks Valley Community. The core objectives of the group are:

1) reducing our carbon footprint &;

2) nourishing community spirit
