Attention all cake (slice/ biscuit) makers

harvest-logo-microWe’re having a cake stall at the fair. So….. could you please let me know if you can make a cake, cakes, slice or biscuits by e-mailing me, or feedback on website (below).

All offerings will need to be labelled with the type of cake, list of ingredients and maker’s christian name. (Health Department does not allow fresh cream to be in cakes sold.) All profits from stall will go towards reimbursing our costs from the fair (bus hire/ paper for printing etc)

Just an idea, how about a theme: Cakes made from garden produce?

I have recipes for good delicious cakes made out of pumpkin, potato, carrot, parsnip, zucchini, beetroot and corn – all local vegetables.

A whole range of local fruit – like apricots, apples, blackcurrants… – can also be used as a basis for cake making.

(Have yet to come across a brussel sprout cake, but you never know.)

Some not-so-local vegetable and fruit – like sweet potato and the good old banana – are also very good cake additives.

(Incidentally, for almost any cake recipe you can replace half to all of the butter with mashed ripe banana, thus providing the moistness without the fat. And they usually taste better too.)

Would muffins be more practical than a full cake?
People can buy one and eat on the spot.

Also it looks very trend-o-ganic if you use brown paper or baking paper squares squished into the muffin tray mould instead of mass produced muffin patty pans.

Does anyone have any delicious Gluten Free recipes for cakes? I have lots of bananas and pears – looking for tried and tested favourites.
