Great display of orchids this year

Last Sunday an orchid walk was organised by the Waterworks Valley Landcare Group and the Council. Unfortunately not many people attended, probably because of the clash with the climate friendly home visits. However, if you want to see some beautiful orchids like those in the pictures below, head southwards across the road and up the hill from the Waterworks Reserve gates.

Pictures are probably:
Calochilus robertsonii half-open (Beardie)
Caladenia fuscata
Glossodia major
Caleana major (Duck orchid)
Pterostylis nutans (Nodding greenhood)
Caladenia cracens

Doug did the walk about two weeks earlier and there were very few out, but now he will have to go again. There has been an amazing display of Glossodia at Peter Murrell – fields of thousands, but Caladenias only just starting and Thelymitras not out either. November may be a good display
