Hi All,

I am keen to have our home involved in this great (local) event which can be a progressive walk up and down Waterworks Rd and surrounds.

Are any of you wonderful poeple interested in opening your homes say November on the 15th or 22nd Sunday?? Everyone has different skills and different houses so a variety of energy saving home devices would be great to showcase.

Thanks, Amanda @ 144

Unfortunately, the 'open homes' for this event in Hobart area are all architected 'designer homes'.

You can get good ideas from these exhibits but for most people (who live in pre-existing houses) it is far more useful to see what people have done to make their ordinary homes more sustainable.

To that end we intend to hold our own Sustainable Home Day soon – showcasing our own homes. Watch this space for date, or if you would like to offer your own home, then please let us know:

If anyone wants a free home sustainability assessment, phone Lori Puster (our good friend and Home Sustainability Assessor) on 6268 6413.

These assessments are part of the Federal Government Green Loans program.

Lori will come and do a home sustainability assessment and suggest ways you can make your home more energy efficient (and/or water efficient, depending on what you are interested in). Your tailored home sustainability report can be used to apply for an interest free Green Loan of up to $10,000 to make the changes recommended in the assessment (see the website above for details).

We've already got many ideas for simple energy efficiency improvements.
